Statement

Katalina Barrera is an artist and educator based out of New York, New York. She received her BFA in Photography at Pratt Institute in 2020.

Katalina’s art focuses on themes of isolation, memory loss, and death within the collective unconscious. Our ever changing state of existence is expressed through the use of different alternative processes in photography. She is heavily influenced by her past archival work of historic photographic materials, her past work as an antique collections photographer, and her work as a teacher. Currently she is executing a photo sculpture project called “A Pocket Full of Posies”.
